Puerto Madryn
Peninsula de Valdes is a patagonic segment which goes into the sea, close to firm land by an isthmus. Its a landscape is arid and desolate, the main city is Puerto Madryn, situated above the sea, where the people are very kind and you can find several good hotels a casino, restaurants and cafes. The shores are the attraction of Peninsula Valdes for the steeps and its quiet and crystalline water. All the region has an abundant sea fauna, in fact, in the Peninsula is the Loberia Punta Norte, a colony of sea lions. Golfo San Julian, Caleta Valdes y Golfo Nuevo are visited every year (from August to April) by flock of franca whale. One of the most important touristic localities in the Peninsula is Puerto Piramides, touristic center wit some hotels and taverns. From Puerto Piramides some of the sea excursions which get closer to watch the whales to the point of almost touching them and move among them while they are playing, this is an unique and unforgettable experience. In this zone, it is possible to dive.
Out of the Peninsula and near the attraction we also find different touristic centers as Gaiman, a walsh town where you can taste the exquisite walsh tea and all its ingredients. The dike Ameghino, from it the black neck swans can be watched, Punta Tombo a huge area with Magallanes penguins. There are some varied things that the region offers to please our tourist. For that reason, when you come to Argentina, (between September and April) don’t doubt about taking an extra time to visit the Peninsula Valdes… we assure you will not repent.
