Mendoza
The province of Mendoza, as well as San Juan (where the “Valle de la Luna” is located) is in the Argentinean west centre. This region is called “Cuyo”, which means “Country of Sand” in the mapuche language, because it is one of the driest zones in our country, close to the highest mountains.
But Cuyo is also “The Wine Country” today voveted by the climbers, there are some of the most modern skiing centres in Argentina.
The region of Cuyo can be visited all the year long and has got excellent air connections.
The ski in Cuyo is seldom cloudy, and in winter the region has a delicious weather except high in the mountains. Why going to Cuyo? to go up the highest mountains in South America, to sit the shade of veautiful boulevards either in Mendoza or San Rafael, at a restaurant, on the wide to walk along tje beautiful streets in the suburbs visiting the wine cellars and buying the best the best wine of the country, to go skiing in the best area to the South, or slipping by coach at the foot of the mountains, or riding through the mountains, to see the biggest vicujna reserve in Argentina and having thermal water baths and listen to the only Argentinians to pronunciate de LL as Castilla, to see extrange ways of erosion, the places where Darwin discovered the araucaria fossil and the path where the Andes Army went through Chile, to feel the stalagmite in a huge cavern.
We would recommend to visit this area minimum three nights staynig in Mendoza City.
