Calafate

There is something that the passengers can t miss when they visit Argentina: its glacials… considered one of the wonders of the world. El Calafate, entrance door to the National Park which lodge. El Calafate, it is a special warm locality (and not because of its weather, but for its people and its architectural estructure). There are excellent hotels and restaurants. Next to the Calafate we find Lago Argentino where the huge ice mass lie and are constantly sliding over the mountains slopes to the lakes forming the “Glacials” and from Bandera port , the excursions leave on launch to the north branch and the Glacial Upsala.

In this region there are several glacials, lakes, high snowed peaks, but the magnificent and authentic in the Calafate zone is the famous and well known “Glacial Perito Moreno”. It is an impressive river of ice three kilometers wide and fifty meters high going down from the continental ice to the channel of the Tempanos. Its moves slowly, this is somewhat strange among the glacials in the planet, and it makes this channel stay interrupted by the ice every four or five years, so that the water in the south branch can t drain until the pressure of the water demolishes the ice dike. This is a fabulous and incomparable spectacle that makes thousand of visitors from all over the world wait eagerly for these dates to visit us. Apart from this punctual episode the glacials can be visited every year from September to April offering different excursions such as mountains, lacustrine, trekking (even on the glacials)
And diverse visits to ranchs and typical shelters of this beautiful place.

We recommend only have to put winter clothes into the suitcase and stay minimum three nights in the city to start on this wonderful and exciting adventure.
